I am listening to Trance music since many years. In my early days, when I was out in the Club I always looked at the DJs how they spin records and I was fascinated how they seamlessly mix together the songs. I wanted to do this as well but at that time, the equipment you would need for DJing was very expensive and not affordable for young people like me. This situation is completely different today.
A couple of years ago I stumbled over the Philips M1X-DJ all in one System, which has been developed in cooperation with Armin van Buuren. Armin van Buuren was always one of my favourite DJs, so I simply decided to purchase it without looking around what alternatives are out in the field. And thats how I entered the world of DJing. Starting to DJ with this was a lot of fun but very soon I reached the limits of this product which is designed for the absolute beginner. You can not do much with it. The M1X-DJ is a controller for the dJay Software from Algoriddim, so I was looking around for a more advanced one and I found the Mixon 4 from Reloop which I am using today. The nice thing about this controller is, that you can use dJay Pro and Serato with it.
Inspired by big names like Armin van Buuren, Tiesto, Markus Schulz, Paul Oakenfold or Dave Clarke to just name a few I am doing this since a couple of years, just for fun and private purpose, I do not play any Gigs... How did I learn to DJ? There is a good (german) book called "Gut aufgelegt" from Dirk Duske which helped me a lot learning the basics. I am also following Ellaskins the DJ Tutor and Laidback Luke on Youtube, they are doing great videos on DJing. And of course practicing, practicing, practicing...
So thats my story. I have started to record my mixes I am doing and I would like to share them with anybody who is interested in Trance music. So listen and enjoy and let me know what you think!
